THE JAMES J. DAVIS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP 2008 FINALISTS
Congratulations to JORDYN ARNDT, our 2008 Scholarship Winner!
Our 2008/2009 winner is Jordyn Arndt, a student at College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, MN studying Business. She is currently studying abroad through CIEE at Suffolk University in Dakar, Senegal. Jordyn says, "As a globally conscious student of business at a women's college, I am intrigued by the manner in which microfinance has benefited female entrepreneurs and, consequently, the health and education of their children."
She has been volunteering at language immersion camp for several years and met several Senegalese people there and learned of an internship opportunity there related to microfinance. She is an International Business and Economics major, and the idea of a microfinance internship intrigued her. She decided to "take the plunge" and go abroad to see how this economic concept that she's studied truly makes an impact on people's lives.
Kymanox extends a sincere thank you to every student who applied. We wish you all the very best for your upcoming time abroad! All of the applications were thoroughly reviewed and the decision on finalists was a tough one. We narrowed down the list of finalists to 15 representing a mere fraction of the total number of applicants. They make an impressive and diverse group which honors the memory of Jim Davis.
