Technical Project Management and Control

An outsourced (e.g., 3rd-party, CMO) manufacturing arrangement requires professional-grade management and control.  Whether you need a full-time PM or just an extra resource to keep things on track and well-documented, Kymanox can help.  In addition to providing project management services, Kymanox is also equipped to delve into and help solve complex technical issues that can occur during construction, validation, manufacturing, testing or release.

New, large or special projects need a constant driving force for timely completion and an outsourced project manager may be the best choice.  Kymanox is experienced and equipped to handle a wide variety of projects including but not limited to:

  • Projects requiring a PMI-certified Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Implementation of a New Technology or Technology Transfer
  • Installation, Commissioning, Validation and Startup of:

    • cGMP Manufacturing Process (Phase I - IV)
    • Bioprocessing-Related Capital Equipment
    • Clean Utilities
    • Manufacturing Facilities
  • Process Data Mining, Analysis and Reporting
  • Facilitation of Team Problem Solving

An outsourced project manager has many advantages over potential internal candidates.  Few companies have true project groups that work outside the functional structure; therefore, having a dedicated project manager means either hiring a new person specifically for that project or taking someone away from their main responsibilities within the functional matrix.  Some of the major advantages of hiring an outside project manager are:

  • An externally hired project manager has no internal distractions or conflicting loyalties within the organization and can take or deliver the "heat" to keep the primary business partnership running smoothly.
  • Projects are run professionally with a clear charter, published tasks, milestone progress reports, detailed timelines and realistic budgeting and resource allocation.
  • Project team members are taught to work together more effectively and responsibly; a good PMP is a facilitator, not a super employee.
  • The project is documented from start to finish; the documentation acts like project insurance to protect the company and can also serve as a template for future internally-managed projects.

Kymanox's philosophy on project management is aligned with the principles taught by Harold Kerzner and the Project Management Institute (PMI). All projects are treated on an individual and custom basis. For a project to have predictable success, extra effort is spent in the planning phase; this extra time is quickly recouped during the execution, controlling and closing phases for overall time and cost savings.

"Small projects need much more help than great ones." - Dante Alighieri
